FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Golden Eagles earned a season sweep on Indiana Tech with a five-set victory, 25-23, 25-23, 12-25, 23-25, 15-11 on Saturday afternoon. The win comes as a huge rebound from the loss last night and improves the Cornerstone record to 14-12, 8-3 WHAC on the year. CU will continue the tough stretch of conference games back at home against rival Aquinas on Wednesday, October 20 at 7 p.m.
Game Recap: Cornerstone – Indiana Tech – (25-23, 25-23, 12-25, 23-25, 15-11)
- Kaylee Dykema got off to a great start for CU, recording four kills through the first five points.
- Neither team could garnish a lead larger than two points through the first 15 points as the two teams sat tied at 15.
- After the set was tied 20-20, Indiana Tech recorded a kill and a block from Madelyn Omo to go on top 22-20.
- Regan Vaughn was crucial from the service line to end set one, recording two service aces along with an Olivia Keelean kill to come back and win set one 25-23.
- In set two, Indiana Tech went on a 3-0 run to get on top 9-6 using a block and a kill to take the lead.
- A block from Kaylee Dykema and Kathryn Detweiler helped Cornerstone tie things back up at 12-12.
- Another 3-0 run from IIT gave them their largest lead of set two at 18-14.
- Cornerstone responded in a huge way with a 7-1 run capped off by a Kathryn Detweiler kill to go on top 21-19.
- After IIT cut it to one, Olivia Keelean recorded the set sealing kill to win set two 25-23 and take a two-set advantage.
- The Warriors were not going to go down without a fight, as they took a 7-2 lead to start set three on a pair of Olivia Gessner service aces.
- A kill from Kaylee Dykema cut the deficit to 9-7. Indiana Tech cruised the remainder of the set however, downing CU 25-12 in set three to stay alive.
- Once again, the Warriors got out to an early lead in set four at 8-2 on a kill from Madelyn Omo.
- Aubrey Lenz recorded a kill on a dump set that brought the deficit to just four at 11-7.
- The CU comeback continued as a huge block from Kylie Barron and Kathryn Detweiler to give the Golden Eagles their first lead at 16-15.
- The lead would be increased to 22-19 on a kill from Kaylee Dykema, but IIT found a way to score six of the last seven points to win set four 25-23 and force this one to set five.
- In set five, Cornerstone went on a 5-0 run that was highlighted by a Patsy Morris service ace to take a 10-5 advantage.
- IIT did everything they could to battle back, but Olivia Keelean called match with her 17th kill of the game to win set five 15-11.

Aubrey Lenz recorded a double-double with 42 assists and 10 digs on the match. This is her 10
th double-double of her career.

Cornerstone returns home on Wednesday, October 20 as they will host rival Aquinas at 7 p.m. for the second matchup between the two squads this season.
