FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Men's Basketball is off to their worst start in the WHAC since the 1996-97 season, falling to 4-5 (1-4) on the season with an 87-61 loss to Indiana Tech. The Warriors who are down two of their starters, dominated the Golden Eagles from start to finish in another blowout road loss for CU.
Blake Stewart had a team high seven rebounds to highlight an overall tough performance for the Golden Eagles. Basketball will look to get a rebound victory over Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday, December 16 to get back on track.
Game Highlights – Indiana Tech – 87 Cornerstone - 61
- First Half
- Indiana Tech got off to a hot start, forcing Cornerstone to use a timeout after opening the game on a 9-3 run.
- Luke Rowlinson ended that streak making a three for Cornerstone to make it 9-6.
- The Warriors used another big run, this time going on an 8-0 run to extend their lead 23-8 as Indiana Tech has stifled the Golden Eagles offense through the first 10-minutes.
- Cornerstone was held scoreless for five straight minutes, in that time, Indiana Tech got whatever they wanted as they now have a 42-12 lead with just over three-minutes remaining in the first half.
- Bryce Nyboer and Luke Vanderwerff scored baskets around the rim to close out the half, the Warriors lead the Golden Eagles 50-18.
- Second Half
- Cornerstone opened the second half on an 8-0 run thanks to threes from Mason Brooks and Luke Rowlinson and a nice hesitation dribble to a layup from Eli Steffen.
- The Golden Eagles continued to be aggressive to start the second half as they have already scored as many points through the first six-minutes of the second half, as they scored all first half. 62-36 Indiana Tech.
- Bryce Nyboer capped a 9-4 run with a three pointer as the Warriors remain comfortable in the lead.
- Indiana Tech did their job well, shutting down the Golden Eagle offense as subs start to flow in for Cornerstone.
- Andy Mora and Aiden Gortmaker nail a three each in the final minutes as the Warriors of Indiana Tech get the best of Cornerstone 87-61.
