Women’s Cross Country wins third straight Conference Title to highlight action at the WHAC Championships

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Make it three in a row for the Golden Eagle women on Friday afternoon as they cruised to the WHAC Championship behind a personal best and course record 21:39 from veteran Haley Nieuwkoop. Cornerstone women scored a total of 42 points with all five scorers finishing in the top 17. The men took second overall, earning 60 points as Jamin Thompson led the way with a third-place individual finish of 25:29. The women have now guaranteed a spot in the NAIA National Championships in Washington, while the men await their fate that will be announced next week. 
 
#RV Men's Results:
The Golden Eagles ran well together from start to finish, with the quartet of Isaiah Jacobs, Chase Holwerda, Ethan Krampe, and Andy Adams all finishing 11th-17th on the race. Jamin Thompson was the leader for CU once again with a mark for 25:29 to finish third individually, as he was in a fight with Mehdi Nait Hamoud from Madonna for second at the finish line. 
 
As a team, Cornerstone scored 60 points for a solid second place finish. Despite CU having all five scorers in the top 17 just like the women, Aquinas would go 1,5,6,9,10 to total 31 points and win the WHAC Title as a team.

#21 Women's Results:
From start to finish, the fifth-year senior Haley Nieuwkoop led the way at Riverside Park. A pair of Indiana Tech athletes tried to track her down, but it was not enough, as Haley set a new personal best at 21:39 in the 6,000m race. Kori Baumann was another dominant performer, recording her highest finish in the WHAC meet of fourth with a time of 23:12. 
 
CU saw all five scorers in the top 17 overall for 42 team points. That gave them a 31 point victory over second place Aquians for their third straight WHAC Title.

What's Next?
Cornerstone women have earned an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships on November 17. The men will wait to see if they can earn an at-large bid with those announcements coming later this week.
