Men’s Basketball hits program record 21 threes in 102-73 win at UNOH

LIMA, Ohio.  – The Golden Eagles caught fire from behind the arc on Saturday afternoon, recording a program record 21 made threes on 36 attempts in a 102-73 victory at Northwestern Ohio. CU shot a season high 55.2% from the field as Drew Knickerbocker and Christian Rodriguez each led the way with 20 points. Cornerstone is now 9-4, 6-2 WHAC on the year and has now scored 100+ points three times. 

What you need to know? 
  • Cornerstone saw the women's game and continue the Golden Eagle hot three-point shooting, opening the game with back-to-back threes from Gabe Meriwether and Carter Nyp to lead 6-3.
  • The game remained close for the first few minutes, until CU erupted for a 14-0 run that saw a pair of threes from Christian Rodriguez to go on top 27-11. 
  • CU ended the half on a 6-0 run to hold their largest lead of the game at the break, 54-35. 
  • Cornerstone shot 12-16 from three in the first half, a 75% clip. 
  • UNOH started the second half well, cutting the deficit to 16, but Riley Costen hit an and one on a reverse layup to bring the lead to 20 at 62-42. 
  • CU then hit five straight threes, with two from Drew Knickerbocker to push the advantage to 77-53.
  • With 11:33 to play Drew Knickerbocker continued his outstanding play hitting the 19th CU three of the game to break the program record and give the Golden Eagles the 82-56 advantage. 
  • Cornerstone then went cold from the arc, hitting just two in the final 11:33 of the game. 
  • The bench saw action for most of the final 10 minutes and in Jack Joldersma's first touch of the ball he recorded a dunk that put CU up 96-66. 
  • Blake Hildenbrand scored his first varsity bucket to give every Golden Eagle a point this season as CU went on to win 102-73 at UNOH.

58.3% - Cornerstone shot 58.3% from behind the arc, going 21-36. 
20/6/3 – Drew Knickerbocker recorded a career high 20 points, six three pointers, and tied a career high with three steals. 
20/6/5 – Christian Rodriguez scored 20 as well and also hit six threes and recorded five assists. 
494 – Christian Rodriguez has 494 career assists, putting him just six away from the 500 mark. 
43-26 – Cornerstone outrebounded UNOH 43-26 on the game.

Cornerstone has had some schedule changes and will now take on Lourdes on Tuesday, February 16 at 7:30 p.m. inside Mol Arena.
