ADRIAN, Mich. – After a tough loss at Lawrence Tech, the Golden Eagles rebounded with a resounding 88-60 win at Siena Heights. Cornerstone got off to a strong start, building a 10-point lead early in the first half and never looked back.
Christian Rodriguez led the way with 16 points, while
Drew Knickerbocker and
Cory Ainsworth dropped 12 apiece. The win moves CU to 7-2 overall, 3-1 in the WHAC.
What you need to know?
- Over a minute into the game, Cory Ainsworth scored the first points of the contest hitting a layup give CU a 2-0 lead.
- After Siena Heights took a 7-6 lead, Cornerstone went on an 11-0 run, capped by a Luke Rowlinson three, to take a 17-7 lead and held the lead for the rest of the game.
- After a small five-point run by the Saints, Christian Rodriguez got the Golden Eagles back on track by scoring the next five points to rebuild the CU lead to ten at 22-12.
- With CU up 8, Trent Summerfield drained a three to put Cornerstone up 33-22 with 6:16 remaining in the game.
- Jack Joldersman continued to show his hops, putting down a dunk with 1:26 to go in the half. SHU hit a three, and the scoring ended in the first half with CU holding a 46-28 lead.
- Carter Nyp got the Golden Eagle offense started early in the second half after he hit a three eight seconds into the half.
- Drew Knickerbocker continued his strong play this season with a three early in the second half to give CU a 55-34 lead.
- Jonny Strube showed some strength, finishing a layup while getting fouled. He hit the free throw to complete the three-point play to give CU a 77-50 lead with 5:47 to go in the game.
- Bryce Nyboer finished off the game with a layup as Cornerstone took the win 88-60 over Siena Heights.
