GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.  – The Golden Eagles started off WHAC play on a high note, topping (RV) Indiana Tech 88-76 on a frenetic night in Mol Arena. There was electricity in the air, a tight contest, an electrifying dunk, and two of CU's best scoring over 20 points each. Cory Ainsworth led the way with 24 points, and Christian Rodrigues tacked on 23. With that win, Cornerstone moves to 5-1, 1-0 in the WHAC.

What you need to know? 

• Christian Rodriguez got Cornerstone on the board with a layup, 1:40 into the game after Indiana Tech had already dropped five points.
• CU took their first lead of the night after Carter Nyp drained a three to go up 11-9 with 15:51 to play in the first half.
• The play continued to be back-and-forth the rest of the first half as both teams traded jumpers, threes, and can't-miss layups. 
• Knotted at 36, Cory Ainsworth hit two free throws, and Indiana Tech hit a layup to enter halftime tied 38-38.
• Cornerstone got off to a quick start in the second half after Cory Ainsworth hit a layup and Christian Rodriguez dropped a three as CU went up 43-39.
• With CU up 46-41, Indiana Tech had a surge of offense, going on an 8-0 run and taking a 49-46 lead with 16:16 to play in the second half.
• Down by one, Carter Nyp drilled a three to give Cornerstone a 55-53 lead with 14:23 remaining, and the Golden Eagles never surrendered the lead from there.
• Up 66-61 and trying to stave off the Trojans, Jack Joldersma had an electric putback slam dunk that energized the crowd and put CU up 68-61.

• Christian Rodriguez and Cory Ainsworth continued to hit shots to keep Indiana Tech at bay, eventually leading Cornerstone to an 88-76 victory.
