Big second half lifts No. 7 Men’s Basketball to 80-72 win

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone outscored Spring Arbor 40-26 in the second half to overcome a 6-point halftime deficit to post an 80-72 victory in the 2018-19 season opener. The No. 7 ranked Golden Eagles will face a tough challenge on Saturday when they take on No. 1 and defending national champion, Indiana Wesleyan. Tip time from Aquinas College is 4 p.m.

-        Cornerstone shot 64.0% in the opening half but trailed by 6 (46-40)

-        Spring Arbor got 60.7% in the opening half but just 33.3 in the second

-        The Golden Eagles took the lead for good at the 6:00 mark of the second half on a layup from Sam Vander Sluis

-        CU used a 22-10 run from 10:35-:47 to post their largest lead of 78-66

-        The Golden Eagles out-rebounded SAU 35-35

No. 7 Cornerstone will face No. 1 Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday at 4 p.m. The Wildcats (2-0) posted a 75-68 win over Aquinas on Friday night.
