SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Men's Basketball went into South Bend to face #RV IUSB and came out victorious 75-69. Cornerstone used a strong second half behind the good play of Cory Ainsworth and Luke Rowlinson to outscore IUSB by 11 in the second half. Jack Joldersma had huge rebounds down the stretch as Eli Steffen led all players with eight assists. Cornerstone moves to 3-1 on the season as they return home to open WHAC play against UNOH on Saturday, November 18 tipping off at 3 p.m.
 
Game Highlights – Cornerstone – 75 #RV IUSB - 69
 

• First Half - IUSB - 37 Cornerstone - 32
  • It was a slow start on offense for both teams as a three hit by IUSB broke the three-minute scoring drought to open the game.
  • A floater from Toby Woolcock and then a layup from Jack Joldersma gave Cornerstone the early 4-3 lead four-minutes into the game.
  • IUSB used a three-minute 5-0 run to take an 11-7 lead over the Golden Eagles before Toby Woolcock drilled a wing three to make it an 11-10 game with 13-minutes remaining in the first half.
  • Cornerstone jumped back into the lead thanks to back-to-back back door layups from Jack Joldersma with Toby Woolcock darting a pass through the defense to make it a 24-22 game with just under six-minutes remaining.
  • After IUSB responded with a three-point play, Mason Brooks would nail a corner three to retake the lead 27-25 lead.
  • IUSB used a big 10-0 run to take a 37-29 lead over the Golden Eagles forcing the Golden Eagles to take a 30-second timeout.
  • Out of the timeout, Luke Rowlinson would hit the three drawn up for him to make it a 37-32 IUSB lead heading into halftime.

 

• Second Half - Cornerstone - 75 IUSB - 69
  • Cornerstone opened the half on a quick 5-0 run to tie the game 37-37 after a three from Luke Rowlinson and a layup from Cory Ainsworth.
  • IUSB would respond with a 5-0 run of their own to retake a 42-37 lead over the Golden Eagles.
  • Luke Rowlinson would hit his fourth three of the game tying it up 44-44 with 14-minutes remaining in the second half. Connor Dykema would follow that up with a huge block stopping the IUSB offense.
  • Cornerstone and IUSB continue to battle as the game is tied 50-50 with 10-minutes remaining in the game.
  • The next two-minutes was all IUSB as they used a strong 10-2 run to take a 60-52 lead as Cornerstone was forced to use a timeout.
  • Cornerstone would then answer with a 7-0 run thanks to a big Kayden Bird three and an IUSB blunder of a technical foul giving Cornerstone two free points. 60-59 with over six-minutes remaining.
  • Toby Woolcock and Luke Rowlinson hit back-to-back threes for the Golden Eagles to give Cornerstone the 65-63 lead with three-minutes remaining.
  • A big offense rebound and put-back from Jack Joldersma and a layup from Cory Ainsworth gave Cornerstone a 72-67 lead with one-minute remaining.
  • IUSB cut it to three points as the Golden Eagles were forced to shoot a contested shot with the shot clock winding down, but Jack Joldersma came up with the offense rebound and threw it out to Luke Rowlinson who then iced the game with his free throws t0 give Cornerstone the 75-69 victory.
