FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Senior
Olivia Keelean needed just two kills to surpass 1,000 career kills and she did that early in set one as (23) Cornerstone kept the winning streak alive with a huge five set road victory at (RV) Indiana Tech. The win is the Golden Eagles 14
th in a row as they hand Indiana Tech their first loss of the 2022 season. CU is now 14-3, 5-0 WHAC as they will get right back into action tomorrow at Northwestern Ohio for a 1 p.m. match.
Game Recap: #23 Cornerstone – 3 #RV Indiana Tech - 2 (28-26, 17-25, 25-19, 21-25, 15-12)
- Olivia Keelean recorded her second kill within the first six points of the match to give her 1000 on her career for a highlight to start the match.
- Cornerstone got off to a strong start on the road as a service ace from Aubrey Lenz helped them get out to a 6-2 advantage.
- IIT stormed back to tie things at six on a kill from Amber Brawley.
- A kill from Kaylee Dykema helped Cornerstone go back on top by four at 16-12 in set one.
- The Warriors leading attacker Noelle VanOort again was a factor helping Indiana Tech storm back to tie set one at 21.
- Cornerstone saw a set point at 24-23 but Indiana Tech responded for two straight to have a set point of their own. CU refused to quit however, as Aubrey Lenz was credited a block on a controversial call, and later Kathryn Detweiler recorded a block to take set one 28-26.
- After trading points early in set two, Indiana Tech found a 3-0 run capped off by a service ace to go on top 11-8.
- Emma Westra recorded a kill that later put IIT on top 14-9.
- Olivia Keelean recorded a late kill but CU could not get enough to generate a comeback falling in set two 25-17.
- Cornerstone scored the first two points of set three with a big block from Kaylee Dykema.
- The block continued to be a factor as Kylie Barron added one to increase the lead to 8-4.
- CU kept a multiple point advantage throughout much of set three as the score sat at 16-11 on a kill from Kylie Barron.
- Indiana Tech responded with a 5-1 run to cut the deficit to just one point, but Cornerstone would not relinquish the lead using kills from Rylie Walters and Olivia Keelean as well as multiple IIT attack errors to take set three, 25-19.
- In set four, neither team could take a lead larger than two points for much of the set. CU went on a 5-0 run to break that streak, highlighted by a pair of Rylie Walters kills that put them on top 14-10.
- A kill from Indiana Tech's Taylor Paul immediately put the Warriors back within one point at 17-16.
- Kylie Barron recorded a kill to cap off a 3-0 run and put the Golden Eagles back up by four.
- Needing a response to stay alive, Indiana Tech did just that with a 9-1 run to close out set four with a 25-21 victory and force a fifth set. Havilyn Cummings recorded the final kill to keep the team alive.
- Indiana Tech took the first advantage in set five on an attack error to go on top 9-7 and force CU into a timeout.
- After the timeout Cornerstone rattled off a 4-0 run that saw a block from Kaylee Dykema and a kill from Olivia Keelean.
- Olivia Keelean then carried CU to victory with the match point kill to tie a career high to take set five 15-12 and hand Indiana Tech their first loss of the year.

Olivia Keelean has now surpassed 1000 career digs and 1000 career kills this season to lead the Golden Eagles.

Olivia Keelean also tied a career high with 18 kills. She added 14 digs for her fifth double-double of the year.

Patsy Morris tallied a season high 30 digs in the five-set victory.

Aubrey Lenz added a season high 17 digs of her own to go along with 43 assists.
10/4 – CU recorded 10 blocks as a team with four of those coming from
Kaylee Dykema.

Cornerstone heads to Lima, Ohio to close out the road weekend at UNOH for a 1 p.m. match on Saturday.
