GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – In their first home game in exactly a month, Cornerstone was greeted by a tough return as they were swept by WHAC foe Lawrence Tech, 25-23, 25-20, 25-23. The Golden Eagles had no answer for the LTU attack as they hit above .400 in each of the first two sets in the sweep. The Golden Eagles fall to 10-20 on the year and 1-12 in WHAC play with just two regular season games remaining. CU will host senior day for their final home game on Friday, March 25 vs. Wittenberg before traveling to Goshen on the 26
th to end the year.
Game Recap – Lawrence Tech – 3 Cornerstone – 0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-23)
- In set one, neither team could garnish a lead larger than two until a kill from Lawrence Tech's Zach Narkiweicz brought the LTU advantage to 17-14.
- A Max Hernandez service ace helped CU cut it back within one at 19-18.
- Cornerstone later tied the set at 21 after a kill from David Galanes and a ball handling error from LTU.
- It would not be enough however as Jeffry Fuhrmann recorded a kill out of the middle to take set one 25-23.
- Cornerstone got off to a great start in set two taking a 7-3 edge, capped off by a Max Hernandez service ace.
- Errors cost CU in an LTU 5-0 run that helped them regain the advantage 8-7.
- The Blue Devils would continue to trade the lead but eventually took command at 18-15 with back-to-back kills.
- LTU scored four of the final five points to take set two, 25-20.
- Cornerstone scored the first four points of set three and forced Lawrence Tech to take a timeout. Max Hernandez recorded two kills in the run.
- The Blue Devils responded with a 6-1 run to go on top 6-5, as the middle hitters continued to dominate the Golden Eagle defense.
- Cornerstone responded with a 5-0 run later in the set, highlighted by two kills from David Galanes to make it 13-10.
- The runs continued as after Cornerstone led 22-19, LTU would score five straight to go on top 24-22.
- Hubert Sliwinski recorded a kill to make the deficit one at 24-23, but Lawrence Tech secured match point on a kill from Felix Perez to take set three 25-23.
By the Numbers
.600/20 – The Lawrence Tech middle JT McCarthy hit .600 on the day with 10 kills on 15 attempts. His teammate Felix Perez recorded 20 kills from the outside and hit .368.

David Galanes tied a career high with 19 kills for CU in the match.
9/10 –
Max Hernandez was one kill from a double-double with nine kills and 10 digs.

Cornerstone will play their final home game on Friday, March 25 at 6 p.m. for Senior Night against Wittenberg. CU will honor three seniors in
