Scouting #10 Indiana Tech

Tech

Indiana Tech enters their second season as a program and is a much improved team after finishing 10-12, 2-4 WHAC in their first season. The Warriors started their season with a four set win over the number two team in the country in Campbellsville University and have gone on to win seven of their first eight to sit at 7-1, 3-0 WHAC on the year. In the conference opener, Indiana Tech shocked Aquinas in straight sets 27-25, 25-17, 26-24. They also took down 5th-ranked Lourdes last week by a score of 3-1 (23-25, 26-24, 25-18, 25-22).

IIT has just one senior with the rest of their players either sophomores or freshman. The team is known for their blocks as they recorded a NAIA fifth best mark of 183 total blocks last season, and have already recorded 83 in eight games this season. Individually, the lone senior of Chase Christiansen leads the team in blocks with 34, with 17 solo and 17 assisted.

Scouting Mount Vernon Nazarene

MVNU

Mount Vernon Nazarene is off to a 2-4 start to the 2020-21 season. One of those wins came against Cornerstone on January 23 when the Cougars won in straight sets. The other came just last week when they knocked off receiving-votes Siena Heights by a score of 3-1. The Cougars have also fought against two powerhouses of the conference, bringing both Aquinas and Indiana Tech to five sets.

Jaysen Matsumoto leads the team with 8.92 assists per game, while Spencer Stanley has recorded 77 kills over six matches this season.

Scouting #14 Goshen

Goshen

Goshen is ranked 14th in the NAIA with an 8-4 record, 2-1 in the WHAC. The Maple Leafs have won each of their last three matches in straight sets, defeating Judson, Webber International, and Lincoln this past weekend in Elgin, Illinois. The team has a 2-1 record on their home court.

Alexander Rabadzhiev leads the team with 135 kills over the team's 12 matches so far. Michael Wahl has recorded 8.02 assists per set. As a team, the Maple Leads are hitting at a .225 rate this season. Brayton Yoder had 15 digs in the match earlier this season against Cornerstone.
