Green and Van Laar lift Volleyball past Siena Heights

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Cornerstone volleyball team got a combined 36 kills from juniors Heather Green and Ellie Van Laar as they posted a 3-1 win over visiting Siena Heights on Wednesday night. The Golden Eagles have now won their last four matches overall and eight of their last nine to stand at 14-7 while they are 5-1 in the WHAC. CU will host No. 16 Madonna on Friday night at 5 p.m..

Match Flow…

Cornerstone controlled that match in sets 1-2-4 but a strong outing by the Saints in the third kept them alive. CU won the opening set 25-16 while they connected on 13 kills at a .205 clip. The offense continued to get stronger in the second behind the swings of Green, Van Laar and Kendra Zwart as CU won 25-17.

Looking to close out the Saints in a sweep, CU's offense went quiet in the third as SHU posted a 25-19 win but the Golden Eagles quickly put away the thought of a comeback as they won 25-15 in the fourth.
