Williamson is entering his fifth year as head coach at Cornerstone University, leading the wrestling program’s inaugural campaign. A 2015 graduate of Messiah College, Williamson spent the past six seasons as an assistant coach under New Jersey and Virginia coaching legend, Jesse Castro at Liberty University.
Â
As an assistant, the wrestling program thrived in the National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA), winning three consecutive Grand National and National Duals titles (2018, 19, 20). The program was a regular finalist at the prestigious Virginia Duals and frequently had wrestlers place at nationally attended Citrus Classic (FL) and Joe Parisi/Lindenwood Open (MO). During his first five seasons, Williamson coached in over 72 dual meet wins, 44 All-Americans, and 12 National Champions. The Flames also excelled in the classroom under Williamson’s guidance, achieving over a 3.5 team GPA and winning the NCWA Team GPA title in 2019.Â
Â
As an athlete, Williamson was a standout at Messiah University (PA) where he was a three-year starter and captain, an Academic All-American, and part of the most successful teams in program history. Chris placed 3rd in the MAC conference tournament and was an integral part in preparing Messiah’s squad for its highest ever team finishes, finishing 6th and 3rd at the NCAA DIII national team tournament. At Messiah, Williamson studied Christian Ministry. From 2015-2017, he completed his MBA while serving as the graduate assistant to Coach Jesse Castro.Â
