Last Week Recap
Women's Basketball had a tough week at home last week falling in both of their conference matchups. Concordia got the best of them to open the week as they fell 84-69 in a game that Concordia never trailed. The Golden Eagles would then face off against UNOH and fell 87-60, another game UNOH never trailed. After a 6-0 start in conference play, women's basketball has gone 1-4 in their last five games and currently sits tied for fourth with a 7-4 conference record.
Cold Stretch
Since the New Year, the Golden Eagles have struggled to put points on the board as they averaging 63.4 points per-game while giving up 74.8 points per-game in their last five games. They are 1-4 in that stretch after starting conference play 6-0, they are now 7-4 in conference with another tough one on deck on Wednesday. The WHAC has circled the Golden Eagles on their schedule knowing they are a top team in conference, looking to upset them after that perfect start.
Jaxi Long (17.2) and
Mackenzie Goodwin (13.6) have led the Golden Eagles in scoring during this stretch to pace the offense.
Scouting Aquinas
Aquinas comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record 12-7 (9-2), having won their last four games. The Saints have had a great start to the conference year, falling to top teams Indiana Tech and UNOH so far on the year while taking care of business against everyone else. Aquinas doesn't score a lot, averaging just 67.1 points per-game, but their defense holds opponents to 61.7 points per-game on 34.4% shooting. Look for a lot of inside game work by the Saints as they are led by double-double machine Claire Gregwer and her 21.2 points and 11.4 rebounds per-game.
Scouting UM-Dearborn
Michigan-Dearborn comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 0-19 (0-11) with a matchup against Lourdes to open the week. It is not the season the Wolverines have hoped for as they have not won a single game yet to this point. Averaging just 55.4 points per-game on 32.1% shooting, it has not been a kind season for the Wolverines. Letting up 84.3 points per-game on 46.4% shooting, Michigan-Dearborn has struggled to get anything going. The Golden Eagles got the best of Michigan-Dearborn in their first matchup of the year 79-53 as they will look to sweep the season series on Saturday.
