It was raining threes as men's basketball cruises past Indiana Tech 98-76

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Men's Basketball hosted Indiana Tech and came out with an impressive 98-76 win. Cornerstone made a season high 19 threes, with Mason Brooks makes seven of them to go along with a career high 27 points. The Golden Eagles and Indiana Tech battle for the first 10-minutes of the game, then Cornerstone got hot behind the arc and never look back seeing their biggest lead hit 31 in the victory. Cory Ainsworth led the way once again for Cornerstone, scoring 28 points to help the Golden Eagles move to 13-7 (9-5) on the year as they head to Michigan-Dearborn for their next game on Wednesday, January 31.

  • First Half
    • Indiana Tech opened the game on a 6-0 run thanks to quick buckets from Brady Titus, three minutes into the game.
    • Eli Steffen got the scoring started for Cornerstone as he drills a three to make it 6-3.
    • Cory Ainsworth completes the three-point play for Cornerstone to give the Golden Eagles their first lead of the game 10-8, capping off a 7-0 run.
    • Indiana Tech used a 6-0 run of their own to retake the lead over Cornerstone 16-12 with 13-minutes remaining.
    • Another run by the Golden Eagles has them leading Indiana Tech 19-18 after a three from Mason Brooks.
    • Andy Mora drills the wing three and Cory Ainsworth follows with a three of his own as Cornerstone leads 27-23.
    • Cornerstone continues to drain threes as Andy Mora and Toby Woolcock drill one back-to-back as Cornerstone leads 36-28.
    • Mason Brooks makes another three pointer, this one gave Cornerstone a 41-32 lead with two-minutes remaining in the half.
    • Cory Ainsworth makes five straight points for Cornerstone as they have their largest lead of the game at 46-34, 40 seconds until halftime.
    • The Golden Eagles head into halftime leading 46-34. Cory Ainsworth is leading the way for Cornerstone with 17 points.
 
  • Second Half
    • Mason Brooks opens the second half scoring five straight points as Cornerstone leads 51-36.
    • Cory Ainsworth answers scoring five straight points of his own as the Golden Eagles have a 20-point lead, 56-36 with 17 minutes remaining in the second half.
    • Luke Rowlinson gets into the scoring party with a three of his own as the Golden Eagles continue to extend their lead 64-37.
    • It is all Cornerstone is this one as a three from Kayden Bird makes it 77-46 with 12-minutes to go in the second half.
    • Blake Stewart makes a three and so does Kayden Bird as its all Cornerstone, 86-54.
    • Another three for the Golden Eagles, another from Mason Brooks as they lead 93-66 with five-minutes remaining.
    • Both teams went deep into their bench for the final minutes of the game as Trey Seydel makes a three. The Golden Eagles go on to win big 98-76.
