Men's Basketball back in action with two conference matchups

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Men's Basketball opens the New Year with conference games against Cleary and Siena Heights as they look to get back on track in the second half of the season. The Golden Eagles are coming off a 98-86 victory over Grace Christian before the New Year that saw them move to 6-6 on the year. Cornerstone will face off against Cleary on Wednesday, January 3 and then finish the week against Siena Heights on Saturday, January 6.

Last Week Recap
Men's Basketball had a first half scare when Grace Christian headed into halftime leading 42-38 and seemingly had control of the entire first half. Yet, the Golden Eagles outscored the Tigers 60-44 in the second half to get the victory over Grace Christian. Cory Ainsworth led all scorers with 21 points while Jack Joldersma recorded his first double-double on the year with 15 points and 12 rebounds. The victory moved Cornerstone back to .500 on the season at 6-6.
 
Looking at Cleary  
The first-year program in Cleary faces off against the Golden Eagles for the first time in program history as they have struggled in their first year with an overall record of 0-11 (0-6). The Cougars have played opponents close but have not been able to finish the job down the stretch as they are averaging 61.2 points on 36.1% shooting from the field per-game. Cleary is being led by freshman Chris Williams where he is averaging 11.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per-game.
 
Looking at Siena Heights
Siena Heights comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 5-7 (2-4) as they face against Rochester in their first game of the week. The Saints two conference victories on the year came against UNOH and Cleary as they are allowing opponents to score 69.1 points per-game while they average 60.8 points. Siena Heights is led by senior Delano Williams who is averaging 12.4 points and five rebounds per-game.
