GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles were back in action against two WHAC opponents in Marian and Cleary in the Cornerstone Tri-Match. The Golden Eagles started out hot against Marian, but the Knights would fight back and take control of the match down the stretch as Cornerstone would fall in a close one, 28-19. Cornerstone would then finish their night against Cleary, winning every weight class but one in a 48-3 victory.
Brady Heckathorn and
Thade Radosa highlighted the night, as they pinned both their opponents in their duals tonight. Wrestling will be back in action this weekend in the Missouri Valley Invitational, January 19-20.
Wrestling Results – #RV Marian – 28 #RV Cornerstone – 19
The Golden Eagles opened the night against #RV Marian, winning the first two matches.
Jeffrey Bailey took control of the match in the first period and didn't look back, winning with an eventual major decision over his opponent.
Devan Johnson got down early 6-1 but after two swift takedowns and riding time, Johnson would get the come from behind victory over a nationally ranked opponent, his first of the year. Marian would win the next two weight classes with one of those being a forfeit.
Thade Radosa was up next and after some time battling back-and-forth, he got the pin of his opponent that gave Cornerstone the lead back. Marian would win the next two that saw them retake the lead over the Golden Eagles as
Brady Heckathorn would be the final win for the Golden Eagles with a swift pin, 49 seconds into his match. The Knights would take down the Golden Eagles 28-19.

Wrestling Results – Cornerstone – 48 Cleary – 3
It was all Cornerstone in the matchup against the Cougars as they go on to win 48-3. After the first two weight classes ended by forfeit,
Thomas Zielinski was the first one up for the Golden Eagles as he would go on to win by major decision. Luke Jaworki bounced back from his first match loss with a 10-3 decision win.
Thade Radosa capped off his excellent night with a pin, the same goes for
Brady Heckathorn.
Cooper Mansfield ended his night on a high note with a tech fall victory 20-4 to cap off a successful match against Cleary.
