Men's Basketball shoots 56% as they power past Concordia 95-76

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – It seemed that Cornerstone couldn't miss in today's game as they shot 56% from field as they beat Concordia 95-76. The Golden Eagles shot 60% in the first half but was only leading by nine as Concordia was right with them making shots. Cornerstone was able to pull away late in the second half as Luke Rowlinson had a career high 30 points and grabbed eight rebounds as well to lead the way for the Golden Eagles. There were contributions from all over in today's game as the Golden Eagles will look to continue this momentum into next week's game as they travel to Lawrence Tech on Saturday, February 18 for their final regular season game.
 
Game Highlights
  • First Half
    • It was a slow start to the game for both teams as after two-minutes, the game was tied 2-2.
    • Cornerstone used the next three-minutes to go on a 8-4 run as Cornerstone is now leading 10-6 after a three by Carter Nyp and a layup by Eli Steffen.
    • Concordia went on a little 5-0 run to take the lead back 11-10 after a three by Kip French.
    • A run started by Luke Rowlinson and Toby Woolcock started the momentum for Cornerstone as the final 10-minutes it seemed that Cornerstone could not miss. Cornerstone leads 23-16.
    • Trent Summerfield and Luke Rowlinson were a two-man wrecking crew as both score five-straight points for Cornerstone as they extended their lead 35-29. Concordia is still sticking around.
    • Luke Rowlinson continued his excellent first half scoring at will as Toby Woolcock adds another layup to give Cornerstone the 44-35 lead heading into halftime.
  • Second Half
    • Luke Rowlinson completed the three-point play as Concordia came out strong in the second half cutting the Cornerstone lead to three. Golden Eagles now back up six, 49-43.
    • Eli Steffen scored five-straight points and Carter Nyp chipped in with two baskets as Cornerstone has their biggest lead of the game 60-50.
    • Trent Summerfield drills his fourth three of the game followed by a three by Eli Steffen gives Cornerstone the 66-53 lead.
    • Mason Brooks drills a three pointer as Kip French fouls Luke Rowlinson as Cornerstone gets the ball back. Luke then completes the three-point play and the next possession, Carter Nyp throws down a dunk off the pass from Toby Woolcock to complete the 10-0 run as Cornerstone now leads 78-59.
    • Toby Woolcock gets another offensive rebound and layup as Carter Nyp follows with a three to make it an 83-64 game with 5:38 remaining.
    • Lewis Jones and Bryce Nyboer score down the stretch for the Golden Eagles as they beat Concordia 95-76.

The Golden Eagles are back in action next Saturday, February 18 as they travel to Lawrence Tech for their final regular season game.
