Back to WHAC
The Golden Eagles will knock out two WHAC duals on Tuesday evening as they take on Rochester and Cleary in the Warrior Tri-Meet. Cornerstone comes into the year 4-7 in dual meets and 1-1 in conference dual meets with their program's first WHAC victory over Siena Heights earlier this year. Cornerstone is looking to move to the top of the WHAC with a pair of wins on Tuesday, as Lourdes currently sits at the top as they only 2-0 team in conference.
First Ever W vs. Top 20 Program
Cornerstone got a great taste of some of the best teams in the NAIA, competing against the #2, #6, #9, and #19 teams in the country. Despite falling in the first three, CU defeated (19) Oklahoma City 22-18 for the program's first victory against an NAIA Top 20 team.
Trevor Marsman got a big win by decision at 133 along with
Noah Anderson winning 8-7 at 165. The big men of
Joe Lashuay,
Jacob Nelson, and
Sterling McLaughlin all earned victories as well to secure the W. McLaughlin's match was a 12-0 major decision which proved to be the difference in the victory.
Trevor Marsman 4-0 at NWCA
Sophomore
Trevor Marsman was the lone Golden Eagle to go unbeaten at the NWCA National Duals. He did so against great competition, winning three matches by decision and earning a pin. The most impressive part of the feat was on Saturday, he competed at 133 pounds rather than his usual 125. Marsman, who is ranked sixth in the nation at 125, earned a big win over the 16
th ranked Diago Hernandez out of Ottawa University in Kansas on Friday evening as part of his 4-0 weekend.
