SYLVANIA, Ohio – A tough day from the field and giving up points off turnovers did the Golden Eagles in as Lourdes took the victory 77-62. Lourdes played a strong team game and overcame the multiple CU mini-comebacks before pulling away to finish off the game.
Carter Nyp and
Cory Ainsworth paced the Golden Eagles with 15 points each, while Ainsworth also pulled down nine rebounds. Cornerstone moves to 10-5 overall, 5-2 in the WHAC with that loss.
What you need to know:
- Knotted up at 6-6 early in the game, Cory Ainsworth gave CU their first lead of the night with a layup.
- After being down 20-15 with 7:10 left in the half, CU went on a 5-0 run to tie the game on another Cory Ainsworth layup.
- Lourdes went on a 13-6 run to end the half, taking a 33-26 lead into the break.
- Down ten early in the second half, Drew Knickerbocker made his presence known with a layup.
- Both teams went back and forth for the next few minutes until a Drew Knickerbocker three and a Christian Rodriguez layup put the Golden Eagles down five, 51-46, with 12:10 remaining in the game.
- Eventually, the Lourdes offense just became too much as they hit threes, free throws, and put down a dunk to take the win over CU 77-62.
