ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles opened the 2020 portion of the year with a tough road loss at Rochester struggling to find the basket, falling 73-48. Rochester earns their first win in program history against Cornerstone to drop CU to 10-7, 4-4 WHAC overall. The 25-point loss by Cornerstone is the largest loss since March 10, 2007 in the national tournament against Northwest. CU also has not been held under 50 points since March 3, 2009 in the WHAC Tournament

- Cornerstone got off to a fast start after a Kyle Hayes 5-0 run to take a 7-2 lead early in the game.
- Armand Cartwright later hit a jumper for the Warriors to tie the game at 9-9 with 13:03 to play.
- Kyle Hayes exited the game in the middle of the first half and did not return with an injury.
- After a Christian Rodriguez layup to cut the Rochester lead to two, the Warriors went on a monster 16-0 run to take a 38-21 lead and blow the game open.
- Tyler Baker hit a three to end the half and cut the deficit to 14 at 38-24.
- Tyler Baker also scored the first bucket of the second half to cut the deficit to 12.
- Rochester later used another big run of 12-0 to increase the lead to 28 at 61-33.
- A layup by Jonny Strube cut it back to under 20, but that is as low as it would get as the Golden Eagles lost by 25 for the first time in 13 years.
By the Numbers
- Cornerstone shot under 40% for the fifth time this season, going 35.7% from the field their second worst mark on the year.
- Tyler Baker and Gabe Meriwether each had a team high 10 points for CU.
- Cornerstone recorded a season high 20 turnovers in the loss to Rochester.

Cornerstone will compete a four-game road trip at Concordia on Wednesday, January 8 at 8 p.m.
