Rivalry game highlights tough 2-game week for No. 1 Men’s Hoops

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The No. 1 ranked Golden Eagles start their final two weeks of the regular season with a familiar face as they welcome rival, Aquinas College, to Mol Arena on Wednesday before traveling to Rochester on Saturday. Cornerstone is 23-3 overall and 15-1 in the WHAC and Wednesday's game against the Saints (15-11, 11-5 WHAC) will also be heard live on ESPN 96.1 FM with Bret Bakita and Drew Neitzel on the call.

Scouting Aquinas – Head coach Ryan Bertoia
Second year head coach Ryan Bertoia has the Saints creeping up the WHAC standings at 11-5 as they won both games last week by a total of six points over Lawrence Tech and UM-Dearborn. Aquinas, which is 15-11 overall, has been led all season by senior Arsenio Arrington who is averaging 16.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per night while Rob Diez is the only other player in double-figures at 10.2 points per night. As a team, AQ averages 70.9 points while giving up 69.9 and shoots 46.7% from the field.

Scouting Rochester – Head coach Klint Pleasant
Head coach Kirk Pleasant and the Warriors have had an up and down season in their first year in the WHAC as they are 13-13 overall and 7-9 in the league. RC has dropped seven of their nine contests so far during the 2018 calendar year including two setbacks last week against UNOH and Indiana Tech. Rochester has been led by their standout point guard Justin Nafso who leads the WHAC in assists (6.4) and steals (2.2) while putting up a team-best 15.2 points per game.
