Five in double-figures as No. 1 Men’s Basketball topples UNOH 87-70

LIMA, Ohio – Christian Rodriguez matched a season-high with 16 points while Kyle Steigenga posted a game-high 27 points as the duo led five Golden Eagles in double-figures in an 87-70 road win at Northwestern Ohio. The victory is the fourth straight for CU to lift them to 23-3 on the year and 15-1 in the WHAC. Cornerstone will welcome crosstown rival Aquinas to Mol Arena on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. tilt. The game can be seen on the CSPN and be heard live on ESPN 96.1 FM.

Game Flow
The Cornerstone defense was up to the task early again as they jumped out to a big lead while limiting the Racers to just two field goals in the opening ten minutes. CU led by as many as 14 during that time after a layup by Sam Vander Sluis with 9:58 to play but the Racers closed the half by out-scoring CU 27-21 the rest of the way to cut the margin to just eight (40-32). The lead was down to as few as five but Kyle Steigenga hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to send CU into the locker room with the momentum.

Early on in the second half, UNOH's Xander Smart did everything he could to keep them close but the balanced scoring of Steigenga, Riley Costen, Rodriguez, Vander Sluis and Michael Bradshaw was too much for the host Racers. The lead slowly grew throughout the second half as CU led by as many as 22 with just over five minutes to play in route to the 17-point victory.

Say What?
