GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Senior Day 2018 saw the No. 1 ranked Men's Basketball team post an 81-69 victory over Lawrence Tech to conclude the regular season. The win is the eighth in a row for Cornerstone as the head into the WHAC Tournament with a 27-3 overall record and 19-1 in league play. CU will host Concordia in the WHAC Quarterfinals on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Game Flow
In a low-scoring opening 15 minutes, the 3-pointer kept the Blue Devils within reach as seven of their first eight made field goals were from behind the arc and they trailed CU, 21-20 with just over five minutes to play. The Golden Eagles then went on a 12-0 run to open a 33-20 lead after a triple from
Riley Costen and a pair of FT's from
Michael Bradshaw. LTU continued to stay close however as they clawed back to within five (38-33) at the break.
The second half was much of the same as CU just could not pull away from the Blue Devils. After scoring the first seven points of the second half to up the lead back to 12, Cornerstone allowed LTU to get back to within five at 45-40. The lead would then go to double-digits for most of the second half but never larger than 15 on three different occasions.

Cornerstone concludes the regular season with the second highest winning percentage in WHAC history (.950). The only team to post a better winning percentage is 1.000 (Cornerstone in 1998-99). CU will open the conference tournament on Wednesday, February 21 at home against Concordia. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside Mol Arena.
