Balanced scoring helps Men’s Hoops down Siena Heights 82-67

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The No. 7 ranked men's basketball team had seven different players finish with at least seven points as the Golden Eagles used a big second half to down visiting Siena Heights, 82-67. The victory lifts CU to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in WHAC play as they will travel to Aquinas on Tuesday for an 8 p.m. tip against the rival Saints.
 
What you need to know
  • CU had three different players in double-figure scoring – Sam Vander Sluis (15), Christian Rodriguez and Kyle Hayes with 14 each
  • Cornerstone trailed by as many as seven (22-15) with 8:47 to play in the first half
  • CU closed the half with a beautiful full court transition layup from Drew Knickerbocker
  • Cornerstone shot 44.1% in the second half after just 34.1% in the first
  • Tied at 37 with 17:45 to play, CU went on a 15-2 run to open an 13-point advantage
  • SHU got as close as six down the stretch but a Rodriguez triple after an offensive rebound from Kyle Hayes proved to be the dagger
