WHAC play resumes with pair of tough home games

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A pair of tough home games awaits the No. 1 men's basketball team as they resume league action on Wednesday against No. 23 UM-Dearborn and Saturday against Rochester College. The game against the Wolverines will be the Golden Eagles' eighth of the year against a team ranked or receiving votes while the matchup Saturday against the Warriors will be the first against RC as a WHAC-foe.

Scouting UM-Dearborn– Head coach Taylor Langley
The Wolverines and 4th year head coach Taylor Langley enter the week 12-6 overall and 7-1 in league play. UMD went 1-1 last week with a close setback to No. 2 Saint Francis (Ind.) before defeating IU-Kokomo by 12. The Wolverines have a deep roster that is led by senior Jason Penn who is averaging 15.6 points and 8.8 rebounds per night. Joining him in double-figure scoring is Maflaion Joyner (12.6), Xavier Crawford (12.6), Ashton Curd (10.9) and Gage Throgmorton (10.1).UMD puts up 78.8 points per game while allowing 73.4 and they rank No. 6 in the NAIA in Total Steals (154).

Scouting Rochester – Head coach Klint Pleasant
The newcomers to the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference are led by 7th year head coach Klint Peaant. The Warriors, who made their first ever appearance in the NAIA DII National Tournament a year ago, are 11-6 overall and 5-2 in the WHAC as they dropped their last game, an 82-73 exhibition contest at Grand Valley State. RC will play Madonna before making the trip to Grand Rapids on Saturday and they have been led this season by Justin Nafso who is averaging 14.5 points and a league-best 6.3 assist per game. Nafso also leads the WHAC in steals with 40. Kash Blackwell (11.7) and Armand Cartwright (11.5) also average in double-figures.
