Scouting Pacific Union – Head coach Greg Rahn (3rd Season)
Head coach Greg Rahn leads Pacific Union into their first appaearance in the NAIA DII National Tournament after winning the Cal Pac Conference Tournament. The Pioneers are led by LeRoy Anderson, who is averaging 12.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per game this season. Jayson Marquez, a First Team All-Cal Pac selection, is pouring in 11 points per outing and leads the team in assists. Rae Hubbard, the top 3-pointer shooter on the squad at 47 percent for the year, is averaging 9.7 points per game. Anderson and Hubbard were Honorable Mention Cal Pac players this year.
WHAC Tournament Champions
Cornerstone has controlled the WHAC Tournament since the conference was created in 1992-93. In the 25 conference tournaments played, the Golden Eagles have appeared in the title game in 19, winning ten of them including two of the last three seasons over Davenport and last week against Aquinas. The Golden Eagles are 49-15 all-time in the tourney.
NAIA Tournament History
Cornerstone is making their 15th appearance at the NAIA National Tournament and 14th since it was moved to Point Lookout, Mo. CU has an overall record of 33-11 in the tourney and boasts a trio of championships in 1999, 2011 and 2015.
First Round Success
In their 14 previous trips to the NAIA DII National Tournament, Cornerstone boasts an incredible 12-2 mark in the first round. Only in 2005-06 and 2011-12 did they fail to advance to the second round.
