ADRIAN, Mich. – The No. 1 ranked Golden Eagles held their second straight opponent under 50 points to pick up their 14
th straight victory with a 75-49 win over Siena Heights on Wednesday night. The victory lifts Cornerstone to 14-1 on the year and 8-0 in the WHAC as they will return to action after Christmas in a road contest at Goshen College on December 29.
Game Flow
The first half was a defensive battle as both teams struggled to find their shooting touch. The host Saints made just four field goals while Cornerstone connected on only 10. CU got out to an 8-2 lead early but then the shots failed to fall as CU was 0-10 from behind the arc in the first 20 minutes but they still had a 24-15 lead at the break.
CU then came out of the locker room and used an 18-1 run over the first 6:31 to blow the game wide open. The run was finished with three triples from
Cory Cox,
Michael McLaughlin and
Eric Readman which forced the Saints into a timeout. CU never looked back as they built their lead to as many as 32 in route to picking up the 26-point win.
Say What?
"It's always good to come on the road at Siena Heights or really anywhere in the WHAC and get a win. We have a tough road ahead of us the next few weeks but it will be good to get some time off around Christmas." Head coach
Kim Elders
